Some Basic Principles of Feng Shui

Based on ancient Chinese Philosophy, the study of Feng Shui falls under one of the eight limbs of Traditinal Chinese Medicine. Developed from the observation of the natural environment and the laws of the Universe, Feng Shui works to create harmony and balance through the manipulation of naturally occuring forces and Chi (energies).

Feng Shui is largely about doing the right thing at the right time; about awareness of the energies present at any given time and place and appropriate action in response to these energies.  More specifically, each home has an individual energetic configuration based on the location of the home and the direction the home faces. These energies can be enhanced to bring greater happiness, prosperity and opportunities into the occupants lives over time. The same home will also be subject to short-term (yearly) energetic influences which can also be enhanced for any given purpose suitable for that year.  The position of forms (ie. furniture) within the home also has a bearing on the Feng Shui of the site.

The study of Feng Shui provides an intimate knowledge of the energy forces affecting any given place and person at any given time. By doing the right thing at the right time we are responding to immediate needs and priorities with appropriate action, allowing us to follow the path of least resistance.
Pets are considered to be good Feng Shui, but just having pets is not everything, allowing them to live in a natural environment, maintaining them and keeping them happy is the key to good Feng Shui.
