The story of Luckie
Luckie is the inspiration for Luckie Pets and the carrier of great wisdom and magic in my life.
Luckie appeared in our backyard three years ago. He was just a kitten and was the last thing I wanted to deal with. At the time we were living above the pizza shop that my partner and I own, and Luckie was living next door, behind the fruit shop, with his sister who was pure white. It was just before Christmas and we headed off for a two week vacation, when we returned we found that Luckie had taken to sleeping in our shed and that his sister had been relocated to the RSPCA. It seemed he had made our yard his home, and he was always around, looking for attention.
One of the first memories I have is Luckie lying in front of me and rolling on his back to show me his white belly, a sign of trust. At the time I was scared of cats as I had always had a suspicion of them and had never been a cat lover. Bit by bit Luckie chipped away at my long held fears. He would come and jump on my knee when we were sitting out the back and he tolerated my apprehension almost oblivious to it.
I started to feel he had chosen me for reasons I couldn't understand. I couldn't stop thinking about him and his welfare and used to go outside anywhere from 5am to 10am to sit and hold him before having to start work.
He melted my heart truly the day he first lay in my arms literally like a baby and started suckling on my jumper as if nursing. Then after work we would play with him in the yard for hours until we sadly had to shut the door on his precious face and leave him curled on an old jacket I had placed at the back door.
To cut a long story short after three months our neighbour, who Luckie had not taken a liking to, told us we could keep him as our own. It was the happiest day of my life, and a gift that I am truly grateful for. I have since come to appreciate that we do not choose our pets, they choose us, and of this I am certain.
Since that time Luckie has opened parts of my soul and spirit that had been dormant. He has taught me that all animals have soul, spirit and personality. It is through him that my work and aspirations have evolved to the point that I no longer wonder what it is I am "meant" to be doing, I know.
He opened my eyes to my calling and has set in motion great change and development that I hope will help many other animals in my future. I have found that when I spend sacred time with Luckie answers to my questions, ideas for my life's work and tasks I am asked to complete become known to me and I am positive that Luckie has come into my life for a very special purpose.
I consider him my familiar, past life companion and teacher in this life.
He is guiding my path and protecting my soul and is rewarded with my full love, reverence and devotion.
